Climate Change Adaptation for Forest Based Communities
The Canadian Model Forest Network created a Guidebook for forest-based communities to act as an assessment tool. The Guidebook is in its draft form and is going to be piloted across four Model Forests representing British Columbia (Northern Resources Forest Alliance), Alberta (Weberville Community Model Forest), Saskatchewan (Prince Albert Model Forest) and Manitoba (Manitoba Model Forest).
The Research Board is made up of several interested parties which gather to discuss and direct the research efforts taken on behalf of the Weberville Community Model Forest. Members include Daishowa-Marubeni International, FPInnovations-Forest Operations Division, Canadian Forest Service, Alberta Sustainable Resource Development, Agro-Forestry and Woodlot Extension Society, and the novaNAIT Boreal Research Institute which acts as the Primary Research Partner and coordinates the Research Board's activities. The inaugural meeting was held on January 25th, 2011 and work is underway to define the vision, mission and objectives of the group.
